Career Guidance and Counseling
Pope’s college launched the Placement and Career Guidance cell in 1993. This cell aims at providing guidance and counseling to the students regarding various traditional and job oriented courses, different kinds of competitive examinations, available job opportunities in the current market trend and employability in public and private sectors. Besides above guidance the objective of the cell is to work as a platform of support service for the students in developing their soft skills, communication ability, personality development and confidence to perform better, so that they may face the challenge and rigours of competitive examinations comfortably without any stress. For achieving its objectives the career guidance cell conducts national as well as state level seminars and workshops from time to time and eminent resource persons are invited to deliver the lectures. The centre remains open from 09:30 A.M to 05:00 P.M and it is well equipped with Computers, Internet facilities and sufficient reading material. The newspaper cuttings, advertisements about job opportunities and information brochures from different institutions are pasted on the notice board from time to time for the welfare of the students.
In the beginning the centre was run with a committee of committed staff with the Principal as the patron and Prof. S. Jeyasingh as the President and Prof. A. Selvakumar as the secretary. Later Dr. S. Chandrasekar took charge of the Career Guidance and counseling centre as its Director. Special guest lecturers were arranged over a period of time for the benefit of students on topics like I.A.S Awareness Programme , Future Prospects of Students, Quantitative Techniques etc. Then Dr. B. Ravindran Durainayagam took charge as Placement Officer and an intensive free coaching programme for Banking Service Recruitment Examination was conducted vigorously. A team of staff displayed an exemplary sense of duty and shared the work without any expectation of reward or remuneration. As a result a remarkable number of students got placement in State Bank of India and in Tamilnadu Mercantile Bank Ltd. Counseling programmes are regular events in the campus.
At present Prof. S. Johnson Navamani has taken charge as the Placement officer. The career guidance activities are now carried out by the coordinator Prof. H. Velwet Getzimah. Both National and State level workshops have been conducted on topics s such as Career Challenges Career options in the Modern Technological Era, Goal setting and Achievement etc. Also awareness Programmes and coaching classes about NET-SLET Examinations were organized for PG students. Experts and resource persons from “Nautica Academy” Chennai were invited to deliver the lectures. The feedback from students was highly encouraging.
A seminar on Career guidance, sponsored by the UGC was held on 30.09.2011.

A seminar on “Happy life” was organized by the Red Ribbon Club on 28.9.2024
A one day workshop on “Soft Skill Development” was organized by the IQAC and CGC on 7.12.2024
A seminar on “Higher Education and Job opportunities in Canada” was conducted for the final year students. Dr.Ruth Susanna, professor in St. Clair, Canada addressed the students on 8.1.2013;
Campus Recruitment program was conducted in two phases in the academic year 2013 -14. Agsar Paints Ltd., Sathya Techno Soft (Pvt) Ltd., Bajaj Allianz, E-Care and ISSM (Indian School of Science & Management) were the companies visited our campus. About 200 students participated and 47 candidates were issued intends of appointment. The college earnestly congratulates the coordinators Mr.S.Johnson Navamani and Mrs. H.Velwet Getzimah.
A one day seminar on “Career Accessibility” was organized by the Career Guidance Cell on 2.1.2024
By the grace of God the services offered by the cell grow year by year to induce and educate the students to face the realities in everyday life.
Placement Cell
Under the guidance of Almighty God, Placement Cell of Pope’s college is leading over all hurdles in success. By the pre-planned works of the members associated with it, various programmes like Seminars, Workshops, Symposia, Hands on Training programmes, Exposure on various services of India were conducted and their different activities were provided in the campus focusing on the outgoing students. Now trainings are also given in a wonderful approach to improve them in soft skill knowledge and hard skill learning. Now-a-days, many companies are willing to come forward for conducting campus interviews in our college campus and providing job opportunities to our students.
Free Coaching Classes
IAS coaching / Skill development
Pertaining to IAS coaching, all the syllabi and model questions are provided by eminent scholars of the training programmes. Model question papers along with answers are supplied to the students. Training on how to succeed interviews softly are given to our students so that their self respect may be brought to the front line among all. Communication skills are being taught to them by a great team of experts in communication skill. Let the Almighty bless them all success in their future careers and living ways.
Student Welfare Schemes
All the intelligent and interested students are sent to District, State, University, National level competitions to compete with their group components. By that they are encouraged to improve their ability up to the level of expectation in such competitions. The average candidates are trained with certain important parts of thread provoking area and illuminated with exercises. The slow learns are given special attention to improve their entire overall personalities by periodic reputation of learning abilities.
Over the years, the student support service has propelled many a number of our students to go fast and fastest.
